Why the rule is “change the top”
The top sits in the portrait zone, nearest the face. Change the top and the outfit changes. Change only the bottom and the room files it as the same look.
Six × three = 18, but only because the six are tops. The styling lesson is knowing which factor the eye counts.
The multiplication keeps going
Two months in, the capsule is still minting new looks.
The tops combine with each other. The strip pictures the shirt under the knit, and the blazer over either the shirt or the knit. There is no invented layered total because not every pair layers.
